Time and
Knowhow - The County Kerry |
|

|
When life was taken at a more
leisurely pace provincial Irish craftsmen had the time and the
knowhow to use traditional methods to construct their
distinctive style of furniture. The twenty raised panels which
make either end of the County Kerry are assembled by hand to
give an unmistakable Irish flavour.

Homemade
Carvings - The Orleans |
|

|
Hand carving has been favoured for
many years for decorations on furniture. Carvings are also
widely used in architecture to lift the interiors and
exteriors of buildings. The Orleans is no exception. What
started life as a relatively ordinary bed has been transformed
with the tasteful inclusion of handmade carvings.

No Shortcuts -
The Chatsworth |
|
Classical finials, heavy panel moulding and full
to-the-floor footboard make for a fine bed - and that's not
all. Applied strap mouldings together with imposing design
make the Chatsworth a bed with no shortcuts.

Understated
detail - The Clumber Bed |
|

Overpowering furniture can discourage
certain customers. The popularity of the clumber can be
directly related to this. Unfussy design and understated
detail are the trade marks of the Clumber as well as being
excellent value for money.

| Welbeck |
Originally
painted - The Welbeck |
|
Popular in the early 1800's this style was usually
decorated with paint effects long before stripped pine became
popular. The turned rail, originally called a cushion rail
would be hung with linens and lavender bags. Evolving out of
these early designs the Welbeck remains very popular in
contemporary bedrooms.
